Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to improve efficiency and to provide information to website operators. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage, which store data in your browser.

2. What technologies does this website use?

We have audited the technologies loaded by this website and set out below what we use and why.

This website does not set any cookies and does not use local storage, session storage or similar technologies. Our request form is processed by our hosting provider, Netlify, without cookies. The website itself sets no other cookies. Our complaints form sends your complaint straight to Cervo's own systems, also without cookies. Our Check a card payment form works the same way, also without cookies.

Cervo's merchant sites (Cervo Apply at apply.cervopay.co.uk, the merchant portal at portal.cervopay.co.uk and the Cervo payment app) share one sign-in. If you sign in to any of them, they set strictly necessary sign-in cookies for cervopay.co.uk, so your browser may also hold them while you visit this website. They are described in section 3.

No non-essential cookies: This website does not use analytics, advertising, tracking or social media cookies or similar technologies that require your consent. No consent banner is displayed because no non-essential technologies are in use.

3. Strictly necessary technologies

This website does not need any strictly necessary cookies of its own. Cervo's merchant sites set the following strictly necessary cookies for cervopay.co.uk when you sign in:

  • cervo-rt — keeps you signed in as you move between Cervo Apply, the merchant portal and the Cervo payment app, so you only need to sign in once. It is HttpOnly, so it is not readable by page scripts, and it is only sent to the merchant sites' own sign-in service. Set by Cervo's merchant sites for cervopay.co.uk (Secure; SameSite=Lax; Path=/_session). Lasts 30 days, renewed while you use the sites, and is deleted when you sign out.
  • cervo-si — a random marker that contains no personal data. It lets each merchant site notice that you have signed in or out on another Cervo merchant site. Set by Cervo's merchant sites for cervopay.co.uk (Secure; SameSite=Lax; Path=/). Lasts 30 days, renewed while you use the sites, and is deleted when you sign out.

The short-lived access token that lets a merchant site load your information is held only in the page's memory; it is not stored in a cookie or in your browser's storage. Older sign-in cookies set by previous versions of the merchant sites are removed automatically.

These cookies are strictly necessary to provide the sign-in you ask for, so under UK PECR they do not require your consent. They are not used for analytics, advertising or tracking. Any other technologies would only be used with your consent. No consent banner is displayed on this website because no non-essential cookies or similar technologies are in use. For how we use the information you give us when you sign in, see our Privacy Notice for Merchants and Applicants.

4. How to control cookies

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically:

  • View what cookies are stored on your device and delete them individually.
  • Block third-party cookies.
  • Block all cookies from specific sites.
  • Block all cookies from all sites.
  • Delete all cookies when you close your browser.

This website does not set any cookies, so blocking cookies will not affect how it works. If you block the sign-in cookies described above, you can still sign in, but you won't stay signed in: you will need to sign in again each time you open or reload a Cervo merchant site. For more information about managing cookies, visit aboutcookies.org.

5. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we introduce new technologies or our use of existing technologies changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.

6. Contact us
